We went camping at Blanco State Park for the weekend. It was very nice.

This is Mike and the camping rig

A Spotted Towee

A Cluster of Cedar Waxwings

About forty Wild Turkey crossing a farmer's field near the park

Sunset from our campsite

Our Campfire

Texas Ranch House near the park

Orange Crowned Warbler -  One rarely gets to see the orange crown, but it is there

Yellow Rumped Warbler - Same story: this angle does not show the rump

Eastern Bluebird

House Finch - classic pose of one of my favorite birds

And our selfie with the cattle just across the fence from our campsite

We had a great time. It was our first outing in months since I had been sick for much of the Christmas break. But we are hopefully getting back on schedule for more camping.

Hope you all had a great Valetine's Day - with someone you cared about.

  5. Wow! I'm so happy you shared your blog with me and others. Your photos are spectacular and I've only just begun admiring your recent trip. I love the bird pics, they are are professional quality. Are you guys pro photographers? I love the trailer too, John and I were just talking about renting one for fun. We need to have lunch soon so you can share your expertise with me. Blessings and joy! Judy

  7. Thanks Will. That's a hard question to answer. I suppose that the House Finch is special because the first time I saw one I was an adult, and I'd never seen one before. It is always fun to see something for the first time. But, having seen lots of birds in my life, it was very interesting to see a bird and realize I had never seen one of those before, and I liked it.

  8. I am unfamilar with this word 'adult'; if it connotates maturity and responsibility, then count me out. I'll take my infant painted bunting each day, everyday @$!*×÷=!

  9. LOL, Will, I too vote against maturity and responsibility. But there did come a day when I was no longer growing taller, just older.
